The Juvenile Justice Council of Iroquois County is partnering with Ms. Thomas' 1st grade class at Glenn Raymond School through the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce's Business Education Partnership and You Program. This month the JJC presented a lesson about using RELAXING COPING STRATEGIES to handle uncomfortable feelings and stress.
The Juvenile Justice Council, Harbor House, and the Iroquois County Sheriff's Department are teaming up again to host an event that supports bullying prevention and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month by giving teens a safe, positive place to connect while reinforcing respect, kindness, and healthy relationships. The movie ELEMENTAL highlights themes of empathy, belonging, and inclusion, which helps spark meaningful conversations about standing up to bullying, navigating peer pressure, and building healthy connections with others. (Admission, popcorn, and pop will be provided at no cost. Additional concessions will be available for purchase.) The doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Mark your calendar and encourage all 6th-12th grade students to attend this FREE Teen Movie Night!
The next JJC meeting will be held on Friday, March 6th from 10:00 a.m. to Noon in the EMA room in the Iroquois County Courthouse basement. Anyone interested in joining our prevention efforts is welcome to attend either in-person or via Zoom. Please contact Barb King (JJC Chairperson) or message TIP the Scale for the meeting link.
The Juvenile Justice Council is devoted to improving the lives of Iroquois County youth. The minutes from their last meeting provide updates on both their accomplishments and plans for the future.
