Harold the Giraffe of I-KAN’s Life Education Center programming is stepping into classrooms around Iroquois County this school year to teach a substance abuse prevention program. This program teaches students in kindergarten through sixth grade how the human body works and the skills needed to deal with pressures from peers and society. Students will learn the importance of choosing a healthy lifestyle and avoiding the dangers caused by abusing alcohol and other dangerous substances. (This prevention initiative is made possible through a partnership between the Juvenile Justice Council of Iroquois County, I-KAN’s LEC, and the Pledge for Life Partnership.)
Let’s Work Together to Promote Healthy Activities for Youth and Families in Iroquois County!10/15/2021
Iroquois County is a great place to raise a family! Let’s work together to spread the word about upcoming healthy activities for youth and/or families. Please email event info to [email protected] or Facebook Message TIP the Scale. A collection of upcoming local events can be found pinned to the top of both the Juvenile Justice Council and TIP the Scale Facebook pages. Check back for updates! Together we can TIP the Scale and stop underage drug and alcohol use!
The JJC would like to partner with community, church, and school organizations that are hosting area breakfast and supper fundraisers to get these helpful parenting TIPs out to parents and grandparents. If you would like to receive these FREE silverware packets with affixed prevention stickers to use at your next meal, please contact Sarah at [email protected]. Working together we can help ensure that Iroquois County teens avoid “sticky” situations that underage drug and alcohol use can cause.
